Daisy is 3!

Yes, yes, thank you, I'm very proud. *clinks sparkling healthy organic fruit beverage* It's been a long journey. . . .And I must admit *coughs, embarrassed* that there were some times----some times that we just didn't know what we were doing. Some of the time we asked ourselves why we let Daisy ransack our lives. Was it because of her beautiful personality? Her charisma?
Her prestige?
Her ability to squeeze herself into small spaces?Maybe, making some of our past queries null and void, it was her extreme cleanliness. Then, we realized. . . .
She was really really cute and fluffy. We love you, Daisy

June 11,2011--and thanks to Laura for taking a creepy/adorable amount of pictures of Daisy.

ONE HUNDRED POSTS!!!

If I was professional, I would have all sorts of cool stuff to give you all. Like, um. . . giveaways and statistics, maybe? (See. I have no idea what I am talking about. I am a disgrace.)

Unfortunately, I am not a professional blogger. (So. . . yeah, no personalized phone covers. Sorry.)

Therefore, I am going to look at my tenth, twentieth, thirtieth, etc. posts and choose my favorite sentences.

Try to tell me that this is not the best non-kitten picture EVER.
I call it a "crack" because it sounded just like those rice cake things your mom gives you when you're a toddler to occupy you in the grocery store, as opposed to stealing samples. My little brother still pertains to his opinion that I need a favorite dinosaur. [. . . ]we should have a big USING UP SUMMER FOOD! party. IMPROV EVERYWHERE I'm off to look through the window, the wonderful window by the door. But until then, we shall wait (and drink tea and eat cookies and read magazines!) Off to buy sunglasses for mah kitties and me to hide our fame. [. . . ]my little sister and mother rented a video called "Kitten Party" which was just kittens running around being cute for 75 minutes.

A summary of my blog in nine sentences. Thanks to all of you for reading, commenting, and pestering me to post when I am (embarrassingly) trying to hide in my hovel, isolated from all mankind including my wonderful friends.

Paparazzi: Daisy

This works best if you have some Lady Gaga in the background. The song starts at 2:00 or so, so the whole first two minutes will NOT be a fitting background. (And yes, I have finally accepted Lady Gaga, even though she runs on the principle that people should wear less clothes and I run on the principle that people should wear MORE clothes. Sigh. . . .)
If we had some motivational quotes from the model, we could send this to a magazine.

Daisy Looks at Shoes

I don't know when Pet Day will be, but here's a Daisy story I hope you won't find tedious.

This may be utterly shocking to you, but someone likes my shoes. And by someone, I mean Daisy. And by likes, I mean "views as prey". The rest is pretty much literal.

Saturday morning, at approximately 5:14 AM, I awakened to a very irritating sound. [You must understand that with loads of homework and an overzealous Perry who wished to eat my carpet, I had had little sleep last week. So much that sometimes I slept in (gasp) ten minutes and thus couldn't edit my blog.] Hearing this, I turned over to see Daisy nuzzling my boots.

Me: Dai-syyyyyyyyy. Nooooooooooooooooo. (obviously tired)
Daisy: *jumps backwards and crouches behind scratching post*
Me: *falls back onto mattress, groaning*
Daisy: *leaps at my ballet flats*
Me: *sigh* Daiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisy.
Daisy: *treadles ballet flat*
Me: Go awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Daisy: *gets bored and commences eating boot*
Me: *buries self in comforters*

How many cats like shoes? (Probably a lot more than we need to know.)

I need more brownies, stat!

AGAIN I have forgotten the anniversary of this blog. The six-month one, I think.

Sob, sob, etc.

Let's have some points of interest.

  1. You all know (hopefully) how I love love love the etiquette/food/English language/fashion area at the library. You also know (probably much more so) that I am a bad conversationalist. This has led me to read two conversation books, which were interesting but told me that at least 80% of what I say isn't worth a thing. Joy.
  2. This book also informed me that people do not like hearing cat stories 24/7. I already knew this, but with a lot of people all we have in common is that they think my cats are cute. . .
  3. . . . so I think that there should be a designated day of the week for me to monologue about the week's adventures involving Daisy and Perry. See Poll.
  4. I think the only reason "Je t'aime, l'ete" is the most viewed page is because I can never remember what it is about. I assume that this happens to you all as well.
  5. I made Ghirardelli brownies. Nom.
  6. MY SIMS GAME IS BROKEN!!! (More on this later.)

Kitchen Crime. . . .

Allo Bloggees! Emma here, apologetic and lazy. I've broken out the ol' camera to bring to you live footage of the newest addition to a file we call "Daisy and Perry Victims." Please note the lovely light and authentically distressed wood (yup, I contributed). Let's take a closer look, shall we?
Isn't it gory? We presume that Daisy did the damage, as Perry was in a cage and the corpse was found in Laura's room. Of course, Daisy mustn't get all the limelight: I present to you Perry's food. Blandness, anyone? (This picture actually turned out really well. I flatter myself as much to say that it looks magazine-esque.)

Perry=Stitches out=Elated Vets

Perry got his stitches out. I assume that it must be very annoying to have someone ogle over their cat for two weeks and such, but now you won't hear about Perry until he catches some muffins.

Perry still smells like the perfume of the vets who coddled him. Seriously. Reminds you of the Daisy story, perhaps?

*I go back to search for Daisy story in order to link it and find I have not posted it.*

When we first got Daisy, we obviously had to take her to the vet. (I AM sure that you all remember Daisy's cuteness.) Upon us letting her out of the carrier, the vet scooped her up and took her to the back room where the other vets/assistants were, and yes, we could hear them coddling. For a while. (We have great vets.)

Off to buy sunglasses for mah kitties and me to hide our fame. :)

Poetic Truth and Daisy

I'm wearing destiny on my fingertips.

Sounds pretty cool, right? All poetic-y and artsy. Actually, my little sister gave me pale pink nail polish for Christmas and it is called Destiny. And I love it, not only for its color but because I was able to wear nail polish for the first time in six months because I didn't botch it all up.

Daisy has been acting odd lately. And by odd, I mean kitten-y. And by lately, I mean ever since Perry was gone/put in a cage. As I said earlier, we brought Perry home on Christmas Eve to much delight and a couple hours of driving. To keep him from jumping or running or licking his ugly stitches, we have contained him in an old dog crate--it is black wire and made for big dogs, so he has plenty of room. But what does this have to do with Daisy? With Perry indisposed, Daisy is The Only Cat. She has reverted to kitten-ness: ripping open food bags and my special annual Chex Mix, letting me pet her for five whole minutes and playing around rather than sleeping. Is this good or bad? Hmm....

3!

Ah, the number three. I recall a PE class in which, after surviving torture, you had to write something that fit into a subject--the subject being "multiples of 3". I was very pleased. While the other team stubbornly put "3, 9, 12, 15, 18, etc.", I put "0.03, 0.003, 0.0003, etc." It was almost as fun as the logical hula-hoop game.

Or 3 as in: "3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993. . . ", that is to say, pi. March 14, 2015, 9:26:53!

3 as in the amount of murders in my most recent novel--the passengers being, respectively, a jewel thief, an alcoholic, an illegal weapons smuggler, and the murderers and murderees.

3 as in "The Sims 3", which I got the newest addition of and appalled the dude at the counter by knowing which day the next add-on comes out. (October 26!)

3 as in the number of muffins Perry has stalked, perhaps because he finds them "easy prey". He will pick one up in his teeth and carry it to the living room to devour and play with.

3 as in the amount of tall onions that Daisy has munched the leaves/stems/whatevers of. She has SO much better breath than Perry.

3 as in the amount of Trident Fruit Stripe Gum pieces that I have given to my siblings. It is 6 months old. (Ssh!)

Most importantly, though, it is the number of months I have posted on my blog! Yay! *throws confetti into air*

Sun-day

Today I woke up at the lovely late time of oh-seven hundred hours. And nineteen minutes. This means only one thing. . . .

Kitty feeding time!

Perry was delighted, Daisy was mildly pleased, and I was disgusted.

Then, seeing that there was absolutely no one else up, I went back to my bed and read my murder mystery. Every character was a criminal, I think. Except for two. There were many triple-negatives. But what truly made my reading experience lovely was that my neighbors a football field or so away were playing their eight-a.m. concerto. The rest of my family slept until nine.

Peter went to his friend's birthday party yesterday.

Peter: *walks up steps*
(One of many of) Peter's friend(s): PETER!!! *giant hug*
Peter: Ack! *goes inside*
(From inside)Peter! Peter! I love you, Peter! It's Peter! I haven't seen you in forever, Peter! PETER!!!!

Yeah. . . .

This post contains 4% of your daily hodgepodge!

On Saturday we rode a truck to the library and made lovely rubber marks on the road. I got more murder mysteries! On Sunday, I finished all the murder mysteries and went to church AND my cousin's second birthday part, where he devoured the face of a 3-D bear cake.

As it turns out, my favorite piece of classical music is Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 6 in C, D. 589.

Also, my earphones have broken. Snickerdoodle. You will notice my weird capitalization in the title. I don't know why I capitalize my titles oddly. And, I posted a cloud of the labels, so you can read every post about Daisy if you want to.

No, I don't mean actually SAY that.

Meet the Kitteh: Daisy

I do talk about them all the time.
This is Daisy, circa four months old. Today she is a slightly plump fluffy kitty who is very shy. We imagine that if she was a person, she'd be a supermodel. She is a very pretty kitty. She loves Purina cat food. Her foster parents (since she and her siblings, Melon [brother] and Patches [sister] were found as newborns; Daisy was the oldest) were neighbors to one of my little brother's friends, and they introduced us to her. When we adopted her, we fed her organic healthy expensive cat food. Daisy tolerated it, but she really only wanted to eat kitty junk food. One day, my mom came across some Purina and thought Daisy might like it. She bought it and mixed it in with the healthy food. Daisy picked all the healthy food out of the bowl and ate the Purina. My parents then switched her to only Purina, and she is a happy little kitteh who never overeats. When we first got her, she was so tiny she got stuck in my little sister's Barbie castle, crawled through her collar, and could fit under the decorative grooves on the bottom of my sister's dresser. Her birthday is June 11, and she is 2 years old. She weighs eight pounds, although we are sure that a large percentage of her weight and slightly heavy appearance stems from her soft static-cling fur. Her pet names (ha) include "Pretty Kitty, "Kit Kat," "Daze," "Da Cootumsy," and "Da Vewy Pwettiest Kitty In The Whole Wide Wowd." Ever since my sister was little, perhaps only a toddler, she would draw pictures of orange kittens with captions such as "I LOVE YOU KITTEN." It was very cute. My mom thought she was allergic then, though, but seriously, we have boxes and boxes of kitten art. Probably wondering why we took three bajillion pictures of her. Aw, so cute. <3
One of her favorite nap places, Daisy also loves to stare out the window at such fascinating sights such as birds, squirrels, and the ever-entrancing phenomenon of one of our sweet elderly neighbors' offspring moving their car away from our mailbox. Daisy has since discovered the crack between the chest and the wall--perfect for eating mosquitoes.Rolling around, spreading her fur.

Please note that the pictures are in a vague sort of chronological order; she is the youngest at the top, and the oldest at the bottom.

Mah Problematic Kittehs

I LOVE my kittums. They are sweet little balls of cuteness on whom I dote upon. (*GASP* you already knew that?)

But they may have self-esteem issues.

Let's begin with Daisy. She's the supermodel kitteh. Very soft and fluffy. However, she has recently been sporting BLOODY SPOTS by her ears and on her cheek.

There is only one conclusion.

Daisy is cutting herself because she has bad self-esteem and feels that she must punish herself for, um, eating slowly or something. Yeah, that's it. Since her little brother, Periwinkle, eats quickly, she feels bad about herself. She simply does not realize what a pretty kitty she actually is.

Now for Periwinkle.

Perry does NOT have bloody spots and scabs on his face, but, as previously mentioned, he eats a lot. A LOT. As in, we had to buy a breadbox so he'd stop eating the bread/stealing it to take into the living room to nom it/licking our butter. He also breaks into his food jar every other day. He also throws up a lot. This usually occurs after he eats a lot. This has led me to an important conclusion.

Periwinkle is bulimic, meaning he has bulimia. He eats a lot and then throws up because he thinks he is "fat."

I am now waiting for my dog to turn anorexic. We have a vet appointment scheduled for soon, so he'd better stop eating before then.

[Please note: While my cats actually do throw up/have scabs on their face, I do not mean to make light of the disorders I mentioned, just to bring light onto them.]
